Of course, having pets is incredibly rewarding. However, no one said taking care of animals was easy, and the rehab centre is no exception!
Throughout the series, we see Izzy gathering food for the koalas, cleaning out their cages, and supporting them through their medical procedures. There are also several scenes that show her waking up in the middle of the night to check on her temporary roommates, proving that the dog or cat your kids keep begging for requires a lot of work!
Moreover, Izzy is aware that every koala they rescue needs to be rereleased back into the wild. Incredibly mature for her age, we don't see her argue with her mom about permanently adopting them. This teaches kids a valuable lesson about fostering animals: the more pets you find forever homes for, the more animals you can help in the long-run.
