This Woman Got a Tattoo of Her Cat With Ink Made From Its Fur

Cat mums and dads: prepare for your devotion to your kitty to be tested a little bit. We've already seen feline friends inked permanently upon their owner's body, but one woman has taken the "cat mum game" to a whole new level: model Makani Terror got a tattoo of her beloved Gizmo on her leg — and the dye was made from her cat's fur. Wow!

The work was done by Artistic Element Tattoo in Yucaipa, CA, and the process sounds totally fascinating. Artist Roman Abrego drew the cat onto Makani's leg with a mix of two inks: Fusion and Skin46. The latter is a new type of dye made out of carbon from both human and animal hair.

Skin46 works like this: first, you send at least five grams of hair from the critter in question to the company's headquarters in Switzerland. Then, the brand takes apart the hair to produce medically clean carbon. Skin46 will ship your ink back, and all you have to do is bring it to your tattoo appointment. Makani actually did this process a year ago, and the snap she just posted was in honour of one happy year with her Gizmo-fied tattoo.

BRB, looking into making our own Skin46 masterpiece — right meow.
