The Best New UK Beauty Product Launches of July 2020

The Best New Beauty Products Launching in the UK in July 2020

As POPSUGAR editors, we independently select and write about stuff we love and think you'll like too. If you buy a product we have recommended, we may receive affiliate commission, which in turn supports our work.

In recent years, the beauty industry has grown exponentially, with new launches, lines, and collaborations coming at us in rapid succession. Every casual scroll through your Instagram feed presents you with new beauty products being revealed, and let's not even get started with all those targeted ads you never asked to see. So if you're someone who loves beauty, how do you keep track of all of the latest and greatest? And more specifically, how do you know which items you can buy in the UK (without paying exorbitant shipping fees, that is)? Well, that's where we come in. Every month, we round up the most exciting launches coming to the UK, from classic brands to indie newcomers and all the creams, sprays, and conditioners in between.

July 2020 is not like every other month, however. We are into our fourth month of the coronavirus pandemic, with lockdown restrictions slowly loosening up around the UK starting on 4 July. And whilst most shops will be opening up this month, social-distancing measures and new safety-and-sanitation regulations mean that the in-store shopping experience will look and feel very different than before COVID-19. Couple that with the fact that many people are out of work or still furloughed, and high-risk individuals still need to self-isolate, rushing out and buying new beauty products — in-store or online — probably isn't at the top of a majority of people's priority lists right now.

But for some people, beauty (and, by extension, beauty products) may act as a distraction or a way to maintain some semblance of normalcy right now (a phenomenon known as the "lipstick effect"). And many brands — in addition to donating products to NHS workers and using their production lines to make hand sanitiser — are continuing to try to roll out new products for anyone who is interested or has the ability to buy. Keep reading to check out the newness — even if it's just to do some virtual window shopping from your living room.

L'Oréal Paris Skin Paradise Tinted Water-Cream

Tinted moisturiser has been around for a long time, but with the launch of L'Oréal Paris Skin Paradise Tinted Water-Cream (£11), the brand introduces us to the new-and-improved 2020 version of the classic product. As the name suggests, the tinted liquid is water based and contains glycerin, sodium hyaluronate, witch hazel water, and aloe vera leaf, all of which contribute to the formula's ability to keep your skin hydrated and glowy throughout the day. Couple that with the liquid's dewy texture and sheer, mineral pigments, and you have a tinted moisturiser that leaves your skin looking plump and radiant — like you just slathered a rich moisturiser all over it.

While the pigments are on the lighter side, they aren't as sheer as your typical tinted moisturiser. Rather, the coverage level falls somewhere between a tinted moisturiser and a light foundation, and can easily be built up to medium coverage if you add additional layers with your fingers or a brush. What is really magical about this formula, though, is while it covers up redness and pigmentation issues, you definitely still sense the natural texture of your skin underneath, and the high points of your face — cheekbones, especially — don't lose their natural luminosity.

The Tinted Water Cream comes in 10 shades — two for fair skin, two for light skin, three medium hues, and two deep tones — and while the brand promises that the shades easily adapt to different skin tones because of their sheerness, we'd still like to see the number of shades available increase in the future.

Hourglass Unlocked Instant Extensions Mascara

Aside from being encased in the ultraluxurious and iconic Hourglass gold packaging, the new Hourglass Unlocked Instant Extensions Mascara (£29) delivers results that are just as impressive. As the name promises, it gives eyelashes extreme length in just one coat with zero clumps. It creates a false lash effect giving the most natural finish, all thanks to the flexible wand, which catches each and every lash. It's also smudge-proof due to the film-forming technology, but comes off with just a swipe of warm water (or micellar water if you prefer). Oh, and it's vegan and cruelty-free.

The best part? 5 percent of all profits of all Hourglass Unlocked products goes to The Nonhuman Rights Project.

Huda Beauty Glow Coco Hydrating Mist

Add the Huda Beauty Glow Coco Hydrating Mist (£30) to your makeup bag, and we promise you'll be picking it up multiple times throughout the day. Loaded with coconut — no, really, the formula contains coconut water, coconut oil, and coconut liquid extract (in addition to water, glycerin, and squalene) — this fact mist is super hydrating. Use it to prime (spray it on before makeup), set (spray it on after makeup), and refresh your face throughout the day whenever your skin feels thirsty, looks a little dull, or you just need a little coconut-scented pick-me-up.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Glow Away Dewy Coconut Face Luminizer

Marc Jacobs Beauty has a knack for creating really good highlighters in all forms, from the Glow Stick Glistening Illuminator (a cream) to the Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter (a liquid). It's why we're so excited that this month, the brand introduces two limited-edition liquid highlighters that are great for adding a whole lot of gleam to small areas of the face, like the tops of cheekbones, along the Cupid's bow, and at the inner corners of the eyes.

The Marc Jacobs Beauty Glow Away Dewy Coconut Face Luminizer (£28) comes in two shades — Sunlit (a soft, golden champagne), and Moonlit (an opalescent pale pink), and on skin, create the illusion of an incandescent glow versus a layer of shimmer.

Chanel Limited Edition Joues Contraste Powder Blush

Here are some mind-blowing beauty stats for you: Chanel's iconic Joues Contraste Powder Blush — a formula long loved by professional makeup artists — launched 40 years ago, and there have been over 140 different shades since 1980. To celebrate the momentous cosmetics occasion, the brand has launched three of the most popular hues in a limited-edition, black-lacquered compact embossed with burgundy double Cs. The Chanel Limited Edition Joues Contraste Powder Blush (£36 each) comes in Malice (a medium pink-coral with warm undertones and a hint of gold shimmer), Rose Initial (a warm-ish medium pink), and Rouge Profond (a warm, dusty red with the slightest sheen to it). If you're a fan of Chanel's blush, these chic new compacts will make a treasured addition to your collection; on the other hand, if you've never tried the popular powder formula, there's never been a better time to give it a go.

Nars Orgasm X Cheek Palette

Nars has dedicated the month of July to its iconic Orgasm Blush, debuting an entire collection inspired by the shimmery peachy-pink powder. The range includes the Orgasm X Blush, which is a deeper, more-intense version of the colour, two gorgeous eyeshadow quads (based on the undertones in both Orgasm and Orgasm X), an adorable miniature six-pan shadow palette, two Oil-Infused Lip Tints (in Orgasm and Orgasm X), and the Nars Orgasm X Cheek Palette (£36), shown here. "This is such a great palette for someone who either loves Orgasm or who wants to try it because it has the Orgasm shade, it has Orgasm X, and then it also this limited-edition highlighter," Vincent Ford, Nars global makeup artist, told POPSUGAR. "One of my favourite tips is that I love to mix all three shades. When you do that, you get this really beautiful golden flushed look," he added.

Clé de Peau Beauté Lip Glorifier

As part of its summer collection, Clé de Peau Beauté took its best-selling Lip Glorifier — a supremely hydrating sheer, tinted balm — and rendered it in three new shades, each with a different scent. The new Clé de Peau Beauté Lip Glorifiers (£40 each) include (shown from left to right), a rose-scented cool-toned pale pink, a peppermint-infused reddish-pink, and a soft coral with a blend of honey and orange. Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Primer

The Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin range may be beloved for its formulas (professional makeup artists have rated the foundation for years), but when it comes to the packaging, the Enhancer and Primer and their big jars can be fairly cumbersome. This month, that changes with the re-launch of the Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Primer (£33), now in a travel-friendly squeeze-y tube. Same great pore-minimising, skin-smoothing-formula, just now in packaging that if you knock over onto the floor, won't create a total cosmetics disaster.

M.A.C. Teyana Taylor Collection

On 16 July, the M.A.C. x Teyana Taylor Collection launches exclusively at ASOS. The 13-piece collection features four lipsticks (three matte, one frost finish), four Lip Pencils, four shades of Lip Glass, and last but certainly not least, the Mineralize Skinfinish powder in House of Petunia, a shimmery gold powder with bronze accents — an all-time favourite product of Taylor's. The entire collection comes packaged in neon packaging, which is not only a nod to the '90s, but inspired by the star's daring personal style.

Crabtree & Evelyn Rose Petal Lip Scrub

It's not just our skin that's been superdry since lockdown; oddly our lips have been more chapped than usual (odd because it's not something that usually happens for us during the summer months). Thankfully, Crabtree & Evelyn introduced a new lip scrub this month, which we'll definitely be incorporating into our daily skin-care routine going forward. With a base of murumuru butter, the Crabtree & Evelyn Rose Petal Lip Scrub (£16) leaves lips soft and hydrated, but it's the mix of rosehip oil, seed powder, and fine grains of sugar that help buff away and dissolve any flaky dry skin on the surface to leave it silky smooth.

Sister & Co. Skin Food Rose & Cardamom Lip Tonic

There's a lot to love about this little pot of lip balm. First and foremost, the Sister & Co. Skin Food Rose & Cardamom Lip Tonic (£10) is 100-percent natural and made with certified-organic ingredients, which means you can swipe it all over your mouth with abandon. Then there's fact it's immensely hydrating, thanks to ingredients like coconut oil, shea butter, avocado oil, almond oil, and vitamin E. And finally, there's the lovely scent, a blend of rose and cardamom that's as pretty as it is delicious, but also subtle enough so it's not a total distraction when on your lips.

Glossier Priming Moisturizer Balance

Glossier's latest face cream — the Glossier Priming Moisturizer Balance Oil-Control Gel Cream (£23) — has warmer temps and oily skin types in mind. Not only is the gel oil-free (and fragrance free!), but it also contains several ingredients that are great for hydrating and soothing oily and acne-prone skin types, such as niacinimide, bamboo extract, and willow bark extract (a natural derivative of salicylic acid). We also really appreciate the supremely silky texture makes our foundation glide on smoothly and stay put throuhgout.

Shiseido Waso Silky Sakura Mochi Mask

As the name suggests, the new Shiseido Waso Silky Sakura Mochi Mask (£10) is inspired by Sakura mochi, the rice-based Japanese dessert made to celebrate cherry blossom season in the spring. And it pays homage to the sweet treat in more ways than one: First off, there's the mask's soft pink colour and the fact it's infused with both sakura leaf and rice extract, which together help protect the skin and make it glow.

Then there's the textures — yes, textures, because this DIY mask starts off as a powder (perhaps like the rice powder you would use to make mochi), and then transforms into a bouncy-paste — much like a finished mochi treat — when mixed with water. Spread the mask over your skin and not only will the ingredients help moisturise your skin, but they will also create a warming sensation that lasts for five minutes to help boost circulation. Remove after five minutes and your skin will be softer, plumper, glowier, and we bet the adorable-ness of it all will also leave you with a smile on your face.

This month, Tan-Luxe introduces a new addition to the Super Glow range, the Tan-Luxe Super Glow Face Serum SPF 30 (£39), which, as you can probably tell from the name, contains broad-spectrum UV protection in addition to all the glow-inducing, tan-building ingredients.

Augustinus Bader The Cream Cleansing Gel

When Augustinus Bader collaborated with Victoria Beckham last year on a couple of skin-care products for her beauty brand, it hinted at things to come from his own brand. Starting this summer, Bader finally (we've been waiting!) takes his own beauty-editor-loved range beyond moisturisers with the Augustinus Bader The Cream Cleansing Gel (£50).

The lathering cleansing gel blends Bader's proprietary TFC8 ingredient (which the brand claims is made up of over 40 different ingredients including vitamins, peptides, and amino acids, and allegedly activates stem cells in your skin, encouraging them to go into healing mode) with rose flower water, cucumber extract, and aloe leaf juice. When combined, the gel helps to cleanse and tone the skin, but without compromising or over-drying the skin barrier. In fact, thanks to the cucumber and aloe leaf, it actually helps calm and soothe your skin as it washes away makeup and grime. "It is an innovative formula that effectively enhances the skin's ability to absorb Augustinus Bader products, while strengthening the skin's natural defences and visibly improving the fundamental structure and health," Bader said of the formula via press release.

Drunk Elephant E-Rase Milki Micellar Wateron

Drunk Elephant's Jelly Cleanser is one of our favourite products in the entire range, so we can't wait to experience the brand's new launch, which is an ultragentle, no-rinse cleansing micellar water. The Drunk Elephant E-Rase Milki Micellar Wateron (£24) not only whisks away makeup and dirt from the face (and eyes and lips), but it also tones and hydrates the skin thanks to a medley of oils (marula, baobab, sweet almond oil, passionfruit, to name a few) and ceramides. That means. in addition to taking off your makeup at night, you can also sweep it over your skin throughout the day if you need a little midday refresh (if you're not wearing base makeup, that is). To use, shake the bottle and apply the water to a cotton pad or reusable cloth pad, and smooth over face, eyes, and lips. And if you're wearing particularly stubborn eye makeup or lipstick, just hold it over the area for a few seconds before swiping away.

Dermalogica Clear Start FlashFoliant

Formulated for acne-prone skin, Dermalogica Clear Start FlashFoliant (£19) is all about efficiency. A chemical exfoliant that dispenses as a foam and is meant to be applied after you wash your face and before moisturiser (so there's no need to rinse it off), FlashFoliant features both alpha hydroxy acid, in the form of grape extract, and beta hydroxy acid, in the form of salicylic acid. The combination of the two helps break down dead skin cells on the surface of your skin and clear out the gunk inside of your pores, simultaneously treating current breakouts and preventing future ones from occurring.

Murad City Skin Age Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 50 | PA++++

Another relaunch for July 2020 is the much-loved Murad City Skin Age Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 50 PA++++ (£60), a broad-spectrum mineral sunscreen (meaning that it protects from both UVA and UVB rays) that contains not only zinc and titanium oxide, but iron oxide, too, which helps protects against infrared radiation. A best-seller for how silky and sheer it is for a physical SPF, the downside is that the formula's peachy-beige tint means it's probably not suitable for dark and deep skin tones.

DHC Urumai Hydrating Lotion

The new DHC Urumai Hydrating Lotion (£22) isn't really a lotion per se. The texture is more like that of a toner or micellar water (although it's nothing like either of those two things) and it's meant to be patted onto the skin immediately after washing your face and before applying your moisturiser. Like all of the products in the brand's three-step Urumai Collection (which also includes a bar soap and face cream), the lotion includes a "rice peptide complex" (a proprietary ingredient made from four different types of rice-based ingredients) as well as sake, the combination of which helps both very gently exfoliate the skin as well as hydrate it — leaving your complexion looking brighter and feeling softer.

GHD Professional Diffuser Attachment

In the beginning of the year, GHD launched its new Helios hair dryer. Six months later, the brand has come out with a range of new-and-improved attachments, including a classic diffuser and the GHD Professional Comb Nozzle (£25), which helps comb through afro hair textures to create a natural blown-out style.

"I am especially impressed with its design that not only provides tension suitable for different densities of afro hair textures, but the rounded ends are brilliant for scalp comfort," said hairstylist Charlotte Mensah via a press release from the brand. "I like to use the nozzle to create a sleek blow-out for my clients. My top tip is to blow dry in small sections ensuring each section is completely dry before moving onto the next. Damp hair equals frizz so, keep a water spray bottle handy to re-wet damp sections before thoroughly blowdrying. Finish with a blast of cold air to close the cuticle to reduce frizz."

Virtue Exfoliating Scalp Treatment

Innovative hair-care brand Virtue has turned its attention to scalp care this month, with two new products: a scalp serum, and the Virtue Exfoliating Scalp Treatment (£44). We can't wait to get our hands on the latter, which, in addition to the brand's proprietary alpha keratin 60ku ingredient (that helps rebuild damaged hair follicles), also contains rice beads and fruit enzymes that very gently mechanically and physically exfoliate away the dead skin cells on the surface of your scalp. Kalahari melon and jojoba oils then help to hydrate both skin and strands, which means you're left with silkier, shinier hair in addition to a soothed, squeaky-clean scalp.

Living Proof Jumbo Size Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo

Living Proof's dry shampoo is a beauty editor favourite, and this month, you can get it in extra-large bottle. The Living Proof Jumbo Size Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo (£27) contains 355ml of the oil-absorbing, odour-neutralising, grime-removing powder that leaves your hair looking (and smelling) fresher and less greasy.

What makes this specific formula so good? In addition to traditional dry shampoo ingredients (rice starch, cellulose, zeolite, and hydrated silica), which absorb sweat and excess oil, it also contains OFPMA, a proprietary molecule that coats hair, making strands slippery to help easily remove the powder, dirt, and oil. Spray the powder throughout your hair, then brush or massage out the powder after about a minute, and the particles — loaded with sebum, sweat, and odour — are massaged or brushed away as you go. You can actually see the white flakes on your shoulders when you're done (so maybe wait to get dressed until after you've used this).

Grow Gorgeous Defence Anti-Pollution Leave-In Spray

Think of the Grow Gorgeous Defence Anti-Pollution Leave-In Spray (£23) a bit like a sunscreen for your hair, except that instead of blocking UV rays, it helps protect strands from all the dirt and grime floating around in the air. Meant to be sprayed on towel-dried hair, this spray is does what a leave-in conditioner does (it contains panthenol, glycerin, amino acids, and sunflower sprout extract to help hydrate and add shine), but then goes the extra step of creating a protective layer around the hair thanks to a proprietary ingredient complex that the brand calls the "polysaccharide matrix".

Jo Loves Mango Thai Lime Fragrance

First launched back in 2012, Jo Loves Mango Thai Lime Fragrance (£70) is relaunching this month, just in time for the heart of summer. Created by Jo Malone CBE, the iconic perfumer was inspired by Thailand when crafting the eau de parfum, which features a blend of mouth-watering juicy notes like mango and lime leaf, and fresh herbs and spices (black pepper, thyme, and mint).

"Thailand is a very special place for me, and a constant source of inspiration," Malone said via press release for the launch. "My first powerful memory with mango was at a beautiful wedding in Thailand staying at the stunning Amanpuri hotel. Every day there was sliced mango with a dash of lime and you could both smell and taste the notes together. I love the sharp, zesty qualities of Thai lime and shot over mango, it creates a very clean, cologne-like scent."

The Body Shop Cool Cucumber Body Yogurt

We've all come to know and love the humble wonky veg; not quite meeting the criteria for the supermarket shelves but still perfectly imperfect when it comes to nutritional value. Well, the folks at The Body Shop, being the trailblazers they are, decided to turn wonky veg into stellar beauty products. We've loved the wonky carrot range for a while now so, when the new special edition wonky cucumber products landed on our desks, we knew they'd become a firm favourite, too.

Perfect for the warmer summer months (especially when you've accidentally caught the sun a little too much), The Body Shop's new Cool Cucumber range is as refreshing as it sounds. Our favourite is the Cool Cucumber Body Yogurt (£9), which contains the beloved wonky cucumbers (obviously), in addition to fair-trade organic almond milk, which gives its hydrating gel-like texture.

Nuxe Bio Organic Hazelnut Replenishing Nourishing Body Oil

At the end of last month, Nuxe debuted an entirely new certified-organic skin-care range, making July the first month you can easily nab the products in the UK. Comprised of 10 products, the Bio Organic Collection is formulated in France, certified by EcoCert, approved and registered by The Vegan Society, and contains an average of 99-percent natural-origin ingredients and over 52-percent organic ingredients, according to the brand. But Nuxe's dedication to sustainability doesn't end there. The packaging utilises recycled materials when possible (recycled glass for the jars, for example), and the containers are made form FSC-certified paper, both of which can be recycled post-use.

The Bio Organic collection is quite comprehensive, including the Essential Antioxidant Serum, Micellar Cleansing Water, Glow Rich Moisturising Cream, Anti-Puffiness Anti-Dark Circles Reviving Eye Cream, Skin Correcting Moisturising Fluid, Multi-Perfecting Tinted Cream, Radiance Detox Mask, Micro-Exfoliating Cleansing Mask, and lastly, the Nuxe Bio Organic Replenishing Nourishing Body Oil (£31), which we've had a chance to test out and thoroughly enjoy. Made with cold-pressed hazelnut oil, as well as sesame, safflower, and sunflower oils, the formula is incredibly hydrating and absorbs quickly (for an oil), while it's light nutty/fruity scent is both subtle and delightful.

Foreo — the Swedish brand best known for its face cleansing tools — has finally branched into another type of skin-care machine: an at-home microcurrent therapy device. The Foreo Bear Facial Toning Device (£279) is a handheld tool that features two, medium-sized microcurrent spheres that send out a low-voltage current (similar to the natural electrical currents in the body) directly into the skin. The microcurrent helps stimulate energy production, which in turn leads to increased collagen and elastin production in the skin. This results in your skin being slightly tighter and more toned, almost like a (very) subtle face lift (if you're looking serious toning and lifting, we're sorry to say this won't cut it).

Most dermatologists agree that at-home devices, like the Foreo Bear (and the Foreo Bear Mini, which is a travel-friendly version that's £100 less), can be beneficial to maintaining healthy and youthful skin whilst your young, or maintaining the results of an in-office procedure for longer.

CBII Immune Capsules

There's been a lot of hype around the benefits of CBD oil in terms of de-stressing and calming inflammation, but in some cases, it's hard to get past the taste of the stuff. That's where the new CBII Immune Capsules (£34) come in. The capsules contain a mix of full-spectrum CBD oil, vitamins C and D, zinc, and ginseng that you can just wash back with a glass of water instead of keeping it under your tongue for a minute.

And as with all dietary and wellness supplements, it's strongly advised to consult your GP before taking them, as adding certain compounds to your diet can risk enhancing or interfering with absorption of other crucial vitamins, which can cause health issues and imbalances.
