Malia Obama's Red Hair Is Trending

Malia Obama's Red Hair Belongs on Your Mood Board

WASHINGTON, DC - NOVEMBER 25: Malia Obama, daughter of U.S. President Barack Obama, participates in the turkey pardoning ceremony in the Rose Garden at the White House November 25, 2015 in Washington, DC. In a tradition dating back to 1947, the president pardons a turkey, sparing the tom -- and his alternate -- from becoming a Thanksgiving Day feast. This year, Americans were asked to choose which of two turkeys would be pardoned and to cast their votes on Twitter. Even American royalty isn't immune to the colour of the season. On Oct. 25, Malia Obama was spotted sans her signature goddess braids and with a new look altogether: red hair. As reported by the Daily Mail, the former first daughter was seen leaving a movie theatre with a friend in Los Angeles with her hair styled in loose waves and a gorgeous brown-tinted red colour. This is the same shade she wore her braids in, so it's safe to say that Obama is a big fan of the hue. Striped trousers, a grey tank top, and a cream jacket pulled the rest of the look together, making it look more like she was walking a runway just hanging with friends.

Red has been unofficially dubbed the colour of the season and celebrities have been having a field day with it. Megan Fox recently revealed her take on the trend with a new bob haircut and there has been renewed interest in Taylor Swift's signature red lipstick over the past few weeks as she's been photographed field-side supporting her new boyfriend, Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs. The colour's resurgence makes sense for a lot of reasons. Cooler tones tend to be complemented by deeper shades, so during the winter months when everything gets, well colder — including the hues in our wardrobes and makeup — it's fitting that we reach for the bold shade for a pop of colour.

Obama's new look is perfect for people looking for red hair inspiration this fall and winter. If you're on the hunt for your own version, make sure to Daily Mailtake her picture to your colourist.
