Molly Mae's Messy Bun Tutorial

Molly-Mae Hague’s Messy Bun Is the Ultimate Twixmas Inspo

It's not a rare occurrence to see Molly-Mae Hague inspire us with her look, but there has been one hairstyle in particular that caught fans' attention – and it's perfect for Twixmas. Back in April, the mum-of-one posted a photo of her in athleisure with a perfect messy bun that was serving serious '90s Pamela Anderson vibes.

"Hair tutorial needed," one person commented on her recent social media post, which saw the influencer rocking a messy bun with pared-down leggings, black T-shirt, and grey jumper, which was tied over her shoulders. "Messy bun tutorial please 😍", wrote another fan, while a third commented: "Omg!! Your hair 😭😍 you look absolutely lush Molly".

In true Hague style, the star gave the people what they wanted and provided followers with a much-requested hair tutorial on her Instagram stories. Starting off with her hair in bouncy waves for added volume (which is perfect for second-day curls, btw), the new mum scraped her hair up into a neat high ponytail before wrapping her hair band around her hair halfway to create an initial loop. She then wrapped the hair band around a second time whilst pulling the loop down to create a bun shape and securing it on top of her head. After fluffing the bun up a little to give it that "undone" feel, she began to pull down a few strands out at the front to frame her face. She completed the look by waving them with a curling wand, and voilà! An Insta-worthy updo.

Of course, Hague is not the only one to channel an elevated messy bun in recent months. Last year, Lily Collins rocked the look with her signature bangs, while Millie Bobby Brown twinned the hairstyle with open-fly jeans and a white bralette. Megan Thee Stallion served the hairstyle at the 2021 Grammys, and gave us the '90s updo resurgence that we all dreamed of.

While the messy bun is a versatile "I woke up like this" look for any time of year, we can't ignore the fact that the in-between Christmas and New Year week is the ultimate time to rock the bun. After a December of socialising, and before the New Year glam hits, scoop your hair up into a look that is cool without being try-hard and practical without being unstylish. Plus, it's the perfect hairstyle for tracksuits, athleisure, and Christmas pyjamas.
