Warmer weather will be here in no time, and our wardrobes aren't the only thing we'll be switching up. Spring is as good a time as any to breathe some new life into the nail art that dominated your mood board throughout the Winter, but there's more to it than just swapping out the darker colours you may have opted for this season with your choice of an eye-catching neon or pastel. If you're currently on the hunt for some trusty Spring nail art inspiration, we're here to help you out. Michelle Saunders James, celebrity nail artist and owner of Saunders and James in Oakland, California, and Jin Soon Choi, founder of JINsoon Spa and JINsoon, both gave us a little insight on the three Spring nail art trends that'll be popular this year and how you can re-create them on your own. "Sky blue, lake blue, neon blue, retro 90's blue. This is the season to wear it because by next year it will go into hibernation," she said. One of James's favourite nail-art looks is one she calls "blue moon," which features tiny half moons drawn in different shades of blue at the bottom of the nail. To re-create the look on your own, she recommends using Essie's Butler Please ($9). To mimic the ombré effect in the photo above, you can try adding other colours like Salt Water Happy ($9), Strut Your Stuff ($9), Wild Card ($9), and Midnight Cami ($9). Or, rather, hear Choi out: "This season, we saw the cool, unbothered aesthetic come to life at KHAITE where I created a fun chipped nail look using [black polish]," she said of the New York Fashion Week look. "The collection was based on the NYC edgy working girl who is always on the go." You can haphazardly paint on a new coat of polish to re-create the look — or wait until your manicure needs a touch-up and then add a bit of top coat. "You can re-create this look using JINsoon Absolute White ($18) and drawing a small curvy stripe on the edge of the nail."
