UK: Warmer Hair Colour Tones

"The new colour trend for the season is warm hair — it's the backlash to the ash blond we've seen in recent years," said Jack Howard, colourist at UK's Paul Edmonds Salon and Schwarzkopf global Blondme ambassador. "Since Pantone's colour was Living Coral, we've seen everything go warmer from furnishings and fashion to interiors and kitchen equipment. This changes the conversation in salon; it's the sort of thing people don't think they're influenced by but they are! Now we're seeing more neutral to natural to warmer tones pushing through, and warm balayage is definitely the hottest thing going on at the moment."

Howard said this new shift in hair colour is easier for clients to maintain. For cuts? "We're definitely seeing more of the midi-length cut in the UK, but millennial long style is still holding on," he said. "We're also seeing a rise in wig culture which means people can experiment."
