I'm not going to lie and say I wasn't nervous to try this hack — black liquid liner in general just scares me — but I figured it was my duty as a beauty editor to put the method to the test. At first, I used a felt-tip liner but wasn't able to get enough pigment onto the bobby pin for it to show up on my skin so I opted for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Liner (£21) instead — now that liner is pigmented.
This next part took me two tries: even though the bobby pin creates the perfect wing shape for you, you still need to line it up with the outer corner of your eye. After I was able to get the placement right, I pressed down and was left with a howled out wing shape. Then, it was time to extend the wing to my lash line, colour it in, and repeat on side two.
