The Secret to Seema's Sleek Blowouts on "And Just Like That"

The stars on "And Just Like That" are like walking, talking Pinterest boards. From their luxurious outfits to their polished hairstyles, the New York women — Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Charlotte (Kristin Davis), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), Lisa (Nicole Ari Parker), Seema (Sarita Choudhury), and Dr. Nya Wallace (Karen Pittman) — are always looking their best. It's expected at this point, but even we've found ourselves marveling at Seema's bouncy, ultra-shiny blowouts, itching to know the secret.

Luckily, Mandy Lyons, the HBO series hair department head and the sole person responsible for said hairstyle, is sharing her wealth of knowledge. On the show, Seema is a regular at her salon — which, fun fact, is actually Rob Peetoom Williamsburg. She even jokes that her union with her hairstylist Juan (played by Ricardo Rojas, a celebrity stylist in real life) is her longest relationship to date. She's made to look like she gets weekly blowouts, and the key is hot rollers.

"The hot rollers go in and then whatever happens, happens when you take them out," Lyons tells POPSUGAR. That's where we got a lot of the real, high shine." She specifically used the T3 Hot Rollers ($140). "They're black and they have velvet on — they're very different from the '70s hot rollers that people used to use." She uses the medium and large sizes all over her head and places them strategically depending on the style she wanted to create that day.

It only made sense to use the retro hair tool — which has recently made a strong comeback — seeing as the inspiration for Seema is 1970s glamour. "My inspiration just went to Bianca Jagger and Jerry Hall," she says. "It was like rocker chic, but also I wanted to get in a little bit of French actress, where she's glamorous but also effortless."

Before putting the rollers in on her dry hair, Lyons sprayed the roots with the Living Proof Full Volume & Root-Lifting Spray ($32) and use the Virtue Detangling Heat Protectant Purifying Leave-In Conditioner ($34) to help set the curls.

"I would put them in and then she'd go and sit in makeup and then when she came back, I'd take them out and brush her hair through with a Mason Pearson Brush ($175)," Lyons says. If any creases happened, which they so often do when working with hot rollers, Lyons uses "a little bit of heat [to] take that out," she says. "I would just spray a little of the root lift spray from Living Proof onto a round brush and then go through the section again."

After she has her voluminous base, the Virtue 6-in-1 Vitamin E Hair Smoothing Styler ($36) allowed her to add some texture and grit to the ends. "Then, if I really wanted to get some high shine, I'd use the Kevin.Murphy Shimmer Shine Spray ($35)," she says. "It's a spray shine that's got gold in it, which really picked up beautifully on camera."

This process happened every day to ensure the high-profile real estate agent always looked like she just came from the salon — and it worked.
