On April 3, Justin Hartley shared the heartbreaking news that one of his family dogs, Memphis, has passed away. The This Is Us star posted an Instagram collage honouring his furry friend and penned a short but sweet tribute in the caption, writing, "For Memphis, one of the funniest, toughest and sweetest animals I ever had the pleasure of loving. Thanks for making our lives better. I really wish we had more time. Rest In Peace little dude."
Justin's wife, Chrishell, also posted a tribute to Memphis on her own Instagram account, sharing a gallery of adorable pictures of him. "Heartbroken to say Memphis went to heaven today," she wrote before explaining that he passed away from kidney failure. Back in December 2016, Chrishell and Justin adopted the cute pup from the Burbank Animal Shelter in Los Angeles, along with another dog, Gracie. The two were "neglected, matted & dirty," Chrishell tweeted at the time, but she gave them a good ol' "Hollywood makeover."
When the Hartleys brought Memphis into their home, he was already 11 years old, which is pretty elderly in dog years. "We didn't know how long we would get to be his family but we knew we would help make what time he had left the best we could," Chrishell wrote in her tribute to her late pup. "His personality was of a loving sweet old man. He is dearly missed." Our hearts go out to the Hartley family.
