Liz Truss' Resignation Coincides with Taylor Swift's "Midnights" Release — Coincidence?
Liz Truss' resignation came just hours before the release of Taylor Swift's highly anticipated "Midnights" album. Coincidence? Or a strategic move so that she can play the album on repeat without interruption? The self-proclaimed "Swiftie" announced she was stepping down as Prime Minister and head of the Conservative Party on 20 Oct. after just 44 days following weeks of chaos in government. Upon the news, Channel 4 even played a montage of Truss and used Swift's "Blank Space", with a reporter commenting, "Liz Truss said that her favourite song was 'Blank Space' by Taylor Swift. She might have had trouble gaining support from fellow MPs and the public as she failed to help with the cost of living crisis, but millennials and Gen Z music fans will, at least, appreciate her playlists.
