Popsugar Celebrity The Royals Meghan Markle's Friends Show Support Amid Bullying Claims Meghan Markle's Friends Are Coming to Her Defence: "Find Someone Else to Admonish" 8 March 2021 by Monica Sisavat Solís First Published: 6 March 2021 Image Source: Getty / WPA Pool The royal family and the British press seem to be doing everything in their power to deflect attention from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's interview with Oprah Winfrey. Their most recent attack involves a bullying complaint from one of Meghan's former advisers, who is claiming that she "drove two personal assistants out of the household and undermined the confidence of a third staff member" during her time at Kensington Palace in 2018. The Duchess of Sussex has denied the claims and is "saddened" by them. "Let's just call this what it is — a calculated smear campaign based on misleading and harmful misinformation," her spokesperson told the UK's The Times in a statement earlier this week. "It's no coincidence that distorted several-year-old accusations aimed at undermining The Duchess are being briefed to the British media shortly before she and The Duke are due to speak openly and honestly about their experience of recent years." Buckingham Palace has also addressed the allegations, saying it is "clearly very concerned" and has launched an investigation. Of course, anyone who has been keeping up with Meghan shouldn't be surprised by these new claims. Ever since Meghan began dating Harry in 2016, the British media has been hellbent on tarnishing her reputation, even though she's no longer a working royal, nor does she live in the UK. Well, Meghan's friends have had enough. Following the allegations, Meghan's close friends, including Serena Williams, actor Patrick J. Adams, actress Abigail Spencer, TV producer Lindsay Jill Roth, makeup artist Daniel Martin, and director Silver Tree, have all come to her defence on social media. Keep reading to see their statements then check out revelations from Meghan and Harry's explosive CBS interview, which aired on Sunday in the US and will air on Monday 8th March in the UK. I know this to be true after 22 years of very close friendship. I have seen firsthand how she treats her friends and their families, and her colleagues. If she's driving with you in the passenger seat, she will fling her right arm in front of you at the slightest bump in a gesture of love to ensure your safety. If you have a specific goal, she will help you get there, and your passions will become hers on your behalf. If you ever have the pleasure of meeting Meg - and I hope more of you do - you will see the altruistic, magnanimous friend who I am so lucky to have in my corner. She's funny. Like, laugh out loud funny. And smart. She's more than just a cover story. She was this woman when we were students together at Northwestern University; she was this woman in Los Angeles when her days were spent auditioning; she was this woman living in Toronto as Rachel Zane on Suits; she was this woman before you knew she was dating Harry; she was this woman after you knew was dating Harry; she was this woman when she became Duchess of Sussex and she is still - without a doubt - this very same woman today." 3 / 15 Silver Tree View this post on Instagram A post shared by Silver Tree (@silvertreedirector) 4 / 15 Jessica Mulroney View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jess Mulroney (@jessicamulroney) 5 / 15 Janina Gavankar I have known Meghan for 17 years. Here’s what she is: kind, strong, open. Here’s what she’s not: “a bully”.ANY of us who know her, feel the same thing from her broken silence: Relief. The truth shall set you free.— janina gavankar (@Janina) March 4, 2021 6 / 15 Aaron Korsh Meghan Markle is not a monster. She’s a strong woman with a kind heart who’s trying to make her way in an unimaginable situation. I don’t know the specifics of some incident from years ago but if late night emails makes you a horrible person, then I’m going to hell 50 times over.— Aaron Korsh (@akorsh9) March 5, 2021 7 / 15 Jon Cowan It’s also possible the Duchess of Sussex is a good person thrust into an unimaginable world. Having spent 3 years working with her in her pre-Duchess days, I saw a warm, kind, caring person. I know nothing of her current situation but she gets the benefit of the doubt in my book. https://t.co/7JD3ig6tws— Jon Cowan (@JonCowan2015) March 3, 2021 8 / 15 Patrick J. Adams She has always been a powerful woman with a deep sense of morality and a fierce work ethic and has never been afraid to speak up, be heard and defend herself and those she holds dear. Like the rest of the world, I have watched her navigate the last few years in astonishment.— Patrick J Adams (@halfadams) March 5, 2021 9 / 15 It sickened me to read the endless racist, slanderous, clickbaiting vitriol spewed in her direction from all manner of media across the UK and the world but I also knew that Meghan was stronger than people realized or understood and they would regret underestimating her.— Patrick J Adams (@halfadams) March 5, 2021 10 / 15 It’s OBSCENE that the Royal Family, who’s newest member is currently GROWING INSIDE OF HER, is promoting and amplifying accusations of “bullying” against a woman who herself was basically forced to flea the UK in order protect her family and her own mental health.— Patrick J Adams (@halfadams) March 5, 2021 11 / 15 Find someone else to admonish, berate and torment.
