Charlotte Doppler

Season 1: We don't get to see much of 1986 Charlotte (Stephanie Amarell), other than her fascination with the town's falling dead bird problem. In 2019, older Charlotte (Karoline Eichhorn) is Ulrich's superior at the police station and still just as curious about the strange phenomena that seem to plague the town.

Season 2: In 2019, Charlotte has all but put her marital drama behind her and started her own investigation (unbeknownst to her new boss) with her husband into the disappearances in Winden.

The only other version of Charlotte we see in season 2 is as an infant, in a photo of her with her parents: Noah and a mysterious blonde woman (it's later revealed to be her own daughter Elisabeth, although Charlotte is still in the dark about that). We first see the photo in 2019, when Noah gives it to Charlotte in her grandfather's studio — revealing that he is her father and that she was taken from him as a baby. The next time we see it is in 2053, when an older Elisabeth digs up a box of her personal belongings (including her knit fox hat).

Season 3:

  • Adam's World: We left Charlotte jumping to the future at the end of season two, where she remains with her grown daughter, Elisabeth, and learns that they are each other's mother and daughter; and we learn that this version of the pair is the reason that they're their own daughter/mother, as they take baby Charlotte from Elisabeth and Noah's cabin in 2041 and bring her to H.G. Tannhaus, who raises her. In the past, we see Charlotte question H.G. about her parents, which is how we learn the truth about his son's family, who were all killed in a car crash in 1971.
  • Eva's World: In this reality, Ulrich is Charlotte's superior (and they're having an affair), and she spends her time helping him figure out what happened to the boy (Mads) that they discover dead in her father-in-law Helge's bunker. There, she finds a penny on a necklace, one that old Helge currently carries with him everywhere, which helps her to put together the pieces and learn that time travel exists. As in Adam's world, she's at the power plant when the apocalypse occurs.
  • Origin World: Charlotte doesn't exist in the origin world, as her entire life is a loop of being born of and giving birth to her daughter, Elisabeth, due to time travel.
