Miley and Demi have been friends since they were children, going through phases of being closer at times than others. When Miley had Demi on her quarantine show Bright Minded, they spoke about their lasting friendship. "Life is moving usually so fast that it's hard to slow ourselves down and appreciate people in our lives. You've been that person for me for so many years and we've been friends for so long," Miley told Demi. "We can not talk forever and then some bullsh*t will go down, and I'll just know you're the person I want to reach out to."
Demi also spoke about Miley in her May 2020 Harper's Bazaar cover issue, saying "[Miley]'s awesome, and I love her to death and always will, always have."
