The whole film is essentially a glimpse into Frances 'Baby' Houseman's (Jennifer Grey) coming of age transition from girl to woman through dance — but between learning her foxtrot from her mambo, she develops a blossoming romance with Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze). After an intense argument, Baby finally hits Johnny with the heart-breaking words: "Most of all I'm scared of walking out of this room and never feeling, the rest of my whole life, the way I feel when I'm with you." After making up in the best way that they know how, through a spot of dirty dancing of course, the pair end up making passionate love in Johnny's cabin. We're still swooning all these years later.
