Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez Are Best-Friend Goals at the VMAs
Taylena fans have been waiting for this moment: Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez were photographed sharing a moment at the MTV VMAs on 12 Sept. Though the best friends arrived at the show and posed on the red carpet separately, they were later spotted hugging and hanging out during the ceremony. The two looked gorgeous in their respective party outfits: Gomez wore a cherry-red gown entirely made of beads, while Swift stunned in an edgy high-slit dress.
While they frequently show love for one another on social media and spend quality time together in private, the duo haven't attended the same award show since the iHeartRadio Music Awards in 2016. As Swift snagged one win after another at the VMAs, Gomez was seen cheering on her friend throughout the evening. The "Midnights" singer was the most nominated person of the night, after all, with a total of eight recognitions. Fans noticed Gomez stood up and flashed a big, proud smile during Swift's acceptance speech for song of the year in particular.
Gomez and Rema were nominated in three categories for their collaboration, "Calm Down." While Swift was at the 2022 VMAs — and took home three wins — Gomez's last appearance at the ceremony was almost a decade ago. The pair actually attended the 2015 VMAs together, where they were spotted sharing laughs and holding hands.
