Who Is Meg Bellamy?

Everything We Know So Far About Meg Bellamy, "The Crown"'s Kate Middleton

Netflix's "The Crown" is known for its incredible casting prowess. From seasoned pros like Olivia Colman to rising talent like Emma Corrin, casting directors Nina Gold and Robert Sterne have succeeded in appointing a string of believable actors in the royal roles. And the latest to join the critically acclaimed series is Meg Bellamy, who has been cast as Kate Middleton.

Alongside Ed McVey, who will be playing Prince William, the 19-year-old is about to become a household name. After confirming the news on her Instagram, Bellamy wrote: "I will strive to do Kate justice. ❤️👑". Having recently left school, Bellamy has no professional credits on her CV but is ready to take on the challenge. On 5 Sept., she posted a fresh-faced photo with the caption, "Thank you so much everyone, for your kind messages of support and encouragement. I appreciate every single one. These past few days have been a whirlwind, and I am just so excited and grateful to be beginning this dream of a journey. 💗".

Who Is Meg Bellamy?

According the The Telegraph, Bellamy recently earned an A* for drama at St Crispin's School, a comprehensive in Wokingham, where she was also a former Head Girl. And, coincidentally, it's not too far from where the Duchess of Cambridge grew up.

She's appeared in school shows, been a member of a choir, and worked as a performer at Legoland, the theme park in Windsor. Bellamy reportedly submitted a self-taped audition after responding to an open casting call on social media.

On 2 Sept., Deadline confirmed that she had been cast in the role and will first appear in the sixth and final season of "The Crown". While the exact details are scarce, it's thought the season will include the period between 2001 and 2005. This is the time when Middleton met William at St Andrews University, where they studied history of art together, before William swapped to geography. Before we get to see Bellamy and McVey act out the royal romance, there will be scenes showing William at age 15, played by Rufus Kampa.

Even before that, we have season five to look forward. Set to premiere in November on Netflix, the season will have an entirely new cast including Imelda Staunton as the Queen, Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana, and Dominic West as Prince Charles.
