Blue Ivy Enters Billboard Hot 100 With "Brown Skin Girl"

Winning Just Like Her Mama: Blue Ivy's "Brown Skin Girl" Feature Earns Her a Hot 100 Entry

In case you needed a reminder to evaluate your life and your choices today, 7-year-old Blue Ivy Carter is here to provide you with the opportunity. The firstborn daughter of Beyoncé and JAY-Z has officially earned a Billboard Hot 100-charting hit with a feature on "Brown Skin Girl," a dazzling love song about the power of black women from Beyoncé's Lion King-inspired album, The Gift.

The album, which Beyoncé described as a "love letter to Africa" and which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 list, features artists from all over the globe, including Burna Boy, Kendrick Lamar, JAY-Z, Childish Gambino, Pharrell, and of course, Blue Ivy Carter. "Brown Skin Girl" in particular features the eldest Carter child along with her mom, Saint Jhn, and Wizkidt. While the song has been praised for its message of love and appreciation for black women, Blue Ivy's inclusion is especially heartwarming considering how much bullying she's endured in the public eye. Having "Brown Skin Girl" earn Blue Ivy a spot on the Billboard charts for the second time before she's even 10 years old is a nice karmic middle finger to haters that we can appreciate.

This isn't the first time Blue Ivy has made an appearance on her parents' albums. In 2012, she became the youngest person to appear on a Billboard chart with her first-ever feature in JAY-Z's "Glory." She was also in Beyoncé's "Daddy Lessons" in 2016, the "Mi Gente" remix the following year, and lent her vocals to "Lift Every Voice and Sing" on the Homecoming album. At this point, we might as well just give her a Grammy! Give your ears a present and enjoy "Brown Skin Girl" ahead.
