Popsugar Entertainment Selena Quintanilla Kacey Musgraves Sings Selena's "Como La Flor" Video Kacey Musgraves Covered Selena's "Como La Flor" at the Houston Rodeo, and YEP, Chills 26 February 2019 by Perri Konecky It was the day before the anniversary of Selena Quintanilla's last concert, at the venue where that last concert took place in 1995, and Kacey Musgraves knew exactly what to do — she honoured the late singer with a cover of her song. On Monday night, Musgraves opened her show at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo with a cover of "Como La Flor," and it was spectacular. Despite presenting at the Oscars just the night before, the Texas native was back in her home state and ready for a meaningful performance. Musgraves became the first country artist to win album of the year since Taylor Swift at the 2019 Grammys, but her voice truly has no limits. Her cover of Quintanilla's popular song was so special, it even received praise from the late musician's sister, Suzette Quintanilla. "Awww this makes me wanna shed a tear! Takes me back 🙏🏼💜 A Big Big Thank you @spaceykacey for the love at the Houston Rodeo tonite with that SELENA Y LOS DINOS Jam! 💜🔥🔥🔥🔥," she wrote on Instagram. Musgraves was overwhelmed by the Quintanilla family love. "Suze!! Gracias x a million. The utmost respect to you, your sister, and the music y'all created. I first learned Como La Flor to sing in my 5th grade talent show (lol) and it was a dream to be able to pay homage tonight to one of the greatest innovators and queens of all time. Especially the day before the anniversary. In my home state. 💜🌹 XO k," she replied. Musgraves brought Quintanilla back to the Rodeo, and the audience was blown away. "She gave TEXAS Selena back for one night, one song. This meant a lot to Tejano fans. She has no idea how powerful and meaningful this truly was," one fan wrote. Ahead, see Musgraves's full performance of "Como La Flor" and how fans are reacting to the impressive cover.
