A Look at the Cast of "Creed III"

In "Creed III" Michael B. Jordan will star as Adonis "Donnie" Creed, the son of Apollo Creed, a recurring character in the "Rocky" film franchise. Creed is a determined, dedicated fighter who seeks to continue the legacy of his father.

Jordan is making his directorial debut for this film and told Variety that directing was always a goal of his, but it had to be at the right time. "Creed III' is that moment — a time in my life where I've grown more sure of who I am, holding agency in my own story, maturing personally, growing professionally and learning from the greats like Ryan Coogler, most recently Denzel Washington, and other top tier directors I respect," the actor said. Jordan is known for his many film roles, including "Black Panther," "Just Mercy," and most recently, "A Journal for Jordan."

Tessa Thompson returns to the "Creed" film franchise as Bianca, a singer-songwriter who catches the eye of Adonis Creed. In "Creed II" Bianca and Adonis become engaged and have a baby girl named Amara, who inherits Bianca's hearing disorder.

On the role of Bianca, Thompson revealed in an interview with Elle that she felt a connection to her character, saying, "I can relate to the fact that she's a musician and that's really tied to her identity. I felt like acting was always this compulsion in school; I would try to do other things…but always came back to acting." Outside of her role in "Creed," Thompson is also known as Valkyrie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films "Thor: Ragnarok," "Avengers: Endgame," and the upcoming "Thor: Love and Thunder."

Veteran actor Phylicia Rashad plays as Mary Anne Creed, stepmother of Adonis Creed and widow of Apollo Creed. Mary Anne is a strong, supportive mother to Adonis, and raised him as her own. Rashad has been acting for over 30 years, and is most recognised for her role as Clair Huxtable on the beloved sitcom "The Cosby Show." Outside of television, Rashad is an award-winning Broadway actor, with acting credits in "A Raisin in the Sun" and "Gem of the Ocean."

Jonathan Majors is making his "Creed" debut as the film's antagonist and Creed's rival, whose name has not yet been revealed. Majors has acted in HBO's "Lovecraft Country," as well as Disney+'s "Loki." Majors opened up to Variety about the nature of playing an antagonist, and said, "What is happening, how it manifests may seem like there's malice in it. Sometimes I feel like with the villains or the antagonist, there's more hurt, so it almost seems impractical or it seems extreme what it is they're trying to do."
