New Argylle Movie Stars a Huge Cast, Including Dua Lipa

Not only is Dua Lipa a world-famous singer-songwriter, fashion mogul, podcast host, and festival organiser, but she added Hollywood films to her repertoire thanks to her appearance in Great Gerwig's "Barbie". But her role as mermaid Barbie proved to be just the start of her acting credentials. The popstar makes her mark in upcoming film "Argylle" playing a femme fatale opposite secret agent, Henry Cavill ("The Witcher").

On 28 September, Universal Pictures released the trailer and more first-look photos of the star-studded movie, in which Lipa sports a blunt blonde bob for her appearance. She can be seen being lifted by Cavill in a dance sequence, wearing a gold minidress with her legs split across his shoulders. A racy movie moment for the "Levitating" singer, but is this really the spy film stereotype we've become accustomed to? No, it seems.

Directed by Matthew Vaughn ("Kingsman", "Kick Ass"), the plot may at first appear to hit the spy thriller tropes, but takes a sudden turn. Read on to find out more about "Argylle" and watch the trailer.

"Argylle" Plot

Elly Conway ("Jurassic World"'s Bryce Dallas Howard) is a reclusive author of espionage novels. While her book franchise may be focussed around the thrilling world of secret agent Argylle, her real life centres on cosying up at home with her beloved cat, Alfie. But her life is thrown into disarray when her fictional books begin to mirror the world of a real-life spy organisation. Elly (along with her cat) travel across the world in a bid to stay ahead of the killers she has been writing about.

"Argylle" Cast

The cast is seriously stacked. While Howard plays the lead author, she is surrounded by a set of A-list names. Lipa and Cavill appear in the movie, but there is also Sam Rockwell ("The Green Mile"), John Cena ("Fast X"), Ariana DeBose ("West Side Story"), Byran Cranston ("Breaking Bad"), Catering O'Hara ("Schitt's Creek"), and Samuel L'Jackson ("The Avengers").

Plus, there is a very special appearance by cat royalty. Alfie the cat is played by Chip, the real-life pet of Claudia Schiffer who is married to director, Vaughn.
