Florence Pugh has been making a name for herself in blockbuster films such as "Don't Worry Darling" and "Midsommar," but she has her sights set on the music industry, too. Speaking on BBC Radio 4's "This Cultural Life" on 29 Oct., 2022, Pugh opened up about her desire to release a music album.

"I would have put money on being a singer-songwriter way before being an actor," she told John Wilson. "To me, being an actor was so far away. I knew I could do it, but I didn't know how to get there, whereas me with my guitar being recorded and going on YouTube, performing on stage and doing gigs, was way more accessible."

Before her acting career took off, Pugh had been uploading videos on YouTube as a teen under the pseudonym Flossie Rose. Producers even offered to work with her at that young age, but she turned them down in favour of school. However, that's not to say she put her beloved guitar away forever.

Pugh has returned to music in her new film, "A Good Person," in which she plays a woman who is overcoming a substance addiction after experiencing a car accident in which her fiancé died. The actor worked with her ex-boyfriend Zach Braff on the movie, and she even wrote a few songs for it. The songs, called "The Best Part" and "I Hate Myself," were released on March 24 as part of the movie's soundtrack.

In an interview with POPSUGAR, Pugh says that while singing in the movie wasn't much of a challenge, accepting that the songs shouldn't sound perfect was. "I kind of needed to take perfection out of the equation," she says about performing as her character, Allison, rather than herself. "Like, I am a singer songwriter. I used to perform a lot when I was younger, but this wasn't the role for it to be glossy or perfect or well-chiseled. It was like the reason why she sings and the reason why she performs is because she's actually being honest with herself. . . So for me, it was just about figuring out, what does she sound like? How broken does she sound? How raw is her voice?"

Pugh did enjoy making the songs sound perfect on the soundtrack, however. "The cool thing was then as Florence, I got to record it outside of the movie, and I got to make it sound how I wanted it to sound," she adds. "So, yeah, I got to kind of do both ways, which was really cool."

At this rate, fans can probably expect an album from Pugh one day. When the BBC asked her if she would ever release her own project, she responded, "Yes, I think so."

"I do miss performing. I've lost confidence in it because I haven't been doing it and I know that if I don't do it, the lack of confidence is only going to get worse. I just need to give it a go."

However, Pugh wants to get a little more experience under her belt to channel the belief she had as a teen. "I do miss it, I do miss performing," she added. "I've lost confidence in it because I haven't been doing it and I know that if I don't do it, the lack of confidence is only going to get worse. I just need to give it a go."

But what musical direction can we expect from the "The Wonder" star? Laid-back, acoustic, soulful songs seem to be Pugh's vibe if her teenage videos are anything to go by. One thing is for sure, Pugh is supremely talented.

As she continues to shine, we have no doubt Pugh would be just as successful if (or should we say, when) she adds singing and songwriting to her repertoire. Can we dare to dream of a "Don't Worry Darling" reunion between Pugh and Harry Styles via a music collab? Maybe it's a little too soon for that.
