Neff Davis was a concierge at New York's 11 Howard when she met Anna Sorokin. The artist, who was an established filmmaker already when she met Sorokin, wasn't bothered by her friend's financial situation when the whole scam was brought to light. She told "Paper" magazine in 2018 that she just wished Sorokin had told her about her situation, because she thought they were better friends than that. "When Jessica [Pressler] told me Anna was at Rikers, and asked her if she had any friends in New York and she told her it was just me, I was like, Wow, so I'm your only friend in New York," she said. "That's when I realised Anna was protecting me by not telling me what was going on with her, because I would have felt obligated to not be her friend anymore. I'm not upset with her."
