John Legend Kelly Clarkson's "Baby It's Cold Outside" Cover

Listen to John Legend and Kelly Clarkson's Woke Version of "Baby, It's Cold Outside"

To celebrate the release of the deluxe edition of John Legend's holiday album, A Legendary Christmas, the singer asked fellow The Voice judge Kelly Clarkson to lend her impressive pipes to a cover of "Baby, It's Cold Outside." The pair promised that their version of the controversial song would be far less creepy than usual, but did they succeed?

In the song, which Legend shared on Nov. 8, a number of the date rape-y original lyrics that have gotten the holiday tune banned from numerous radio stations come December have been tweaked to reflect a more modern conversation between a man and woman on a snowy evening. For example:

Original: "My mother will start to worry (beautiful, what's your hurry?) / My father will be pacing the floor (listen to the fireplace roar)"

New: "My mother will start to worry (I'll call a car and tell 'em to hurry) / My daddy will be pacing the floor (Wait, what are you still livin' home for?)"

At one point Legend also sings "It's your body, and your choice" to Clarkson, whose lyrics are about whether or not she should have another drink. So, all in all, definitely less creepy! Unfortunately there's still the inclusion of lines like "Your lips look delicious," of course, which has personally always skeeved me the hell out. Maybe next year.
