Meghan Trainor teased the arrival of a new song, "Mother," on 2 March. The singer, who is currently pregnant with her second child, shared a preview of the song in a clip posted to YouTube Shorts.

In the short video, Trainor lip-synced to the track and danced in an oversized sweatshirt that reads "Mother Up" and mostly hides her baby bump. But later in the day, she posted an Instagram video where she danced to the song while wearing a crop top and cradling her bump. Her toddler daughter, Riley, meanwhile, ran in and out of the frame.

The very poppy song has lyrics like, "I am your mother / You listen to me / Stop all that mansplainin', no one's listening / Tell me who gave you the permission to speak / I am your mother / You listen to me." The song samples the classic track "Mr. Sandman" as Trainor sings, "You just a bum-bum-bum-bum-bum-bum-bum-bum."

The next day, on 3 March, Trainor posted an official #IAmYourMother dance on Instagram, alongside TikTok dance creators Brooke Blewitt and Jess Qualter. Trainor has yet to share the release date for "Mother"; however, interestingly enough, she released a song back in 2016 similarly titled "Mom," as a tribute to her mother, Kelli Trainor.

Trainor's last album was 2022's "Takin' It Back," and her most recent song, released in the same year, was "Made You Look," which reached No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 thanks in part to its popularity on TikTok. Trainor seems to be gunning for something similar with "Mother."

Trainor announced her pregnancy back in January. She and her husband, Daryl Sabara, already share their daughter, Riley, who turned 2 in February. Trainor also has an upcoming book about pregnancy, birth, and her days as a new mum coming this April, titled "Dear Future Mama." And to stay truly on brand, she cameoed in the new season of "How I Met Your Mother" as a pregnant woman having a home birth.
