Miley Cyrus Serenades Pete Davidson | Video

Pete Davidson Barely Held It Together During Miley Cyrus's Hilarious "Revenge" Serenade

We have to give props to Pete Davidson for attempting to keep his composure on Thursday night when Miley Cyrus surprised him with a "revenge" serenade that would resonate with almost anyone scorned by an ex-lover.

While Davidson and Cyrus have never had a romance of their own, the "We Can't Stop" singer used her performance spot on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon to hilariously call out those dating rumours about Davidson and Kim Kardashian during a cover of Yvonne Fair's "It Should Have Been Me." "Pete Davidson, this song is for you," she said, pointing toward him at the start of her set. "When I saw those 'photos,' this is what I played," she added jokingly, referencing the recent paparazzi shots of Davidson and Kardashian.

The song tells the story of a woman who can't bear to witness the love of her life marry someone else. "Saw my love walking down the aisle / and as he passed me by / he turned to me and gave me a smile," Cyrus sang. "The preacher joined their hands / And all the people began to stand / When I shouted: 'You know that should have been me!'" Packed with lines like, "You made a promise that we'd never part / And then you turned around and broke my heart," the song would be truly heartbreaking if not for the fact that Cyrus was clearly joking the entire time.

"It should have been me in that Lamborghini leaving that nice-ass restaurant!"

Halfway through the serenade, she walked off the stage, mic in hand, and sat on Fallon's desk to drape her leg across Davidson's lap, belting out the song's chorus the entire time. "Pete Davidson! How could you do this to me?!" she sang as Davidson gave a good-natured shrug, unable to hold back his laughter. "It should have been me in that Lamborghini leaving that nice-ass restaurant! I'm going to watch a movie in freakin' Staten Island." At this point, Davidson was laughing so hard, he had to cover his face with his hands while Fallon leapt out of the way to give Cyrus some space to finish enacting her lyrical "revenge."

"How could you do this to me on the week of promoting our special?" she asked. For good measure, she even threw in a casual, "What the f*ck?!" before dancing back to the main stage. Davidson definitely wasn't expecting to be the centre of attention during Cyrus's set, but we have a feeling that her performance isn't one he'll forget anytime soon.
