The Korean Version of "Money Heist" Is Shaping Up to Be Just as Good as the Original

First announced by Netflix in December 2020, the streaming giant shared the first look at the Korean remake on 18 Jan. 2021, in a one-minute-12-second promo that showed off its cast members and official English title. While the teaser says it's coming soon and Netflix confirmed "Money Heist: Korea — Joint Economic Area" is slated for a 2022 release, it stopped short of tying the project to a premiere date.

With the production having started last year, it's likely "Money Heist: Korea — Joint Economic Area" is wrapped up or currently in the postproduction phase. The international series is likely to hit Netflix in the first half of 2022, right in time for the summer.

The teaser revealed the actors behind the eagerly awaited series alongside their characters' aliases. The main cast of "Money Heist: Korea — Joint Economic Area" is led by Yoo Ji-tae, who will step into the iconic role of Professor. Kim Yunjin will play Seon Woojin, and Park Hae-soo will take on the role of Berlin. The other cast members making up the extraordinary heist gang include Jun Jong-seo as Tokyo, Lee Won-jong as Moscow, Kim Ji-hun as Denver, Jang Yoon-ju as Nairobi, Lee Hyun-woo as Rio, Kim Ji-hoon as Helsinki, and Lee Kyu-ho as Oslo.

Much like its parent show, "Money Heist: Korea — Joint Economic Area" follows a genius strategist as he guides his exceptionally talented crew of top-notch criminal masterminds through an elaborate heist, only this time, it's set in Korea. While there's not much known about the series beyond that, it will surely offer high-stakes twists and turns at every corner.

The first season will consist of 12 episodes, each clocking in at about an hour.
