Scott Derrickson, who wrote and directed 2016's initial entry, will be returning for the sequel, Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness. At Comic-Con on the weekend, Derrickson told the crowd in Hall H that he wanted to make "the first scary MCU film" and since he comes from a horror movie background, this is hardly surprising. Cumberbatch also confirmed the film would take "a crazy line into horror," while maintaining the signature Marvel humor. It hasn't been confirmed whether he will be writing the script this time around, as Marvel is reportedly shopping around for a screenwriter.
