"Ramón and Julieta" by Alana Quintana Albertson

Take "Romeo and Juliet," swap a Day of the Dead festival for a grand dance, and add one very important taco recipe, and you've got Alana Quintana Albertson's heartwarming (and mouthwatering) romance "Ramón and Julieta." Ramón and Julieta meet and share an electric evening at a Day of the Dead festival. In the light of day, they discover the truth: Ramón is the scion of the family buying up the whole neighbourhood, and Julieta runs the family taqueria that's on the chopping block. Even worse, Julieta's mother claims that her signature taco recipe was stolen by Ramón's father decades ago. It's Shakespeare by way of gentrification for a story that's as exhilarating as it is heartwarming.
