"Hello, Sidney." A decade since Scream 4, Ghostface has resurfaced in the upcoming fifth film, simply titled Scream, which serves as a relaunch of the iconic horror franchise. Filled with familiar quips and jump scares, the recently released trailer reunites viewers with familiar faces like Courteney Cox, David Arquette, and, of course, Neve Campbell and also introduces a host of newcomers including Melissa Barrera, Jack Quaid, and Jenna Ortega.

Based on this first look, the film will follow a new group of high schoolers being targeted by Woodsboro's perennial villain, with Sidney Prescott (Campbell) once again having to fend off a new Ghostface, who is described as feeling different from the prior killers. In one of many quotable moments, Arquette's Dewey Riley asks Sidney, "Do you have a gun?" She replies, "I'm Sidney Prescott; of course I have a gun."

Directed by filmmaking duo Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Scream isn't free from a certain level of pressure and set of expectations: it's the first one since the death of horror legend Wes Craven, who directed the first four films. "It's a tightrope to walk: to be respectful and find ways to tie a new story into an old lineage," Gillett said during a virtual press day last year. He added, "It's something that has been top of mind since day one."

All will be revealed, however, on Jan. 14, when Scream is released exclusively in theatres. In the meantime, watch the trailer and browse production stills ahead.
