A "The Gray Man" Sequel Starring Ryan Gosling Is Coming — Here's Everything We Know So Far

"The Gray Man" was always intended by Netflix to be a series. But considering Netflix isn't against cancelling projects early on (looking at you, "Raising Dion" and "Space Force"), fans were understandably unsure whether the company would end up continuing the "The Gray Man" franchise. However, the incredible response to the first instalment was enough to seal the deal on a sequel and expanded universe, apparently. That said, not much is known about the second film's plot.

"The Gray Man" ends with Six freeing a young girl, Claire Fitzroy, from the clutches of the CIA and going on the run with her, so it's likely the second movie will pick up sometime after that. Six will still be dodging the CIA. Having killed a lot of their agents by this point, it's personal for them now. The first film also sets up many interesting threads that may lead to internal department corruption, more influences from outside third parties, and many more subplots that come with spy thrillers and crime dramas.

Currently, there's no official release date for the next instalment of "The Gray Man." Though, the Russo Brothers are set to return as the directors, and Stephen McFeely will return to write the script. "With so many amazing characters in the movie, we had always intended for 'The Gray Man' to be part of an expanded universe, and we are thrilled that Netflix is announcing a sequel with Ryan, as well as a second script that we're excited to talk about soon," the Russo Brothers said in an interview with Variety.

At this time, the sequel doesn't have a trailer, as filming hasn't begun. You can watch the trailer for the first film (which is already streaming on Netflix) below.
