Alicia Silverstone in Remake of Nicolas Cage's Valley Girl

Alicia Silverstone Finally Becomes a Valley Girl in the Trailer For the '80s Remake

If you love the '90s nostalgia Alicia Silverstone brings to mind (Clueless, anyone?), get ready to see her "reminisce" about the '80s in Valley Girl. The upcoming movie is a remake of a 1983 film of the same name, which starred a young Nicolas Cage at the beginning of his career along with Deborah Foreman. Unlike the 1983 version, the remake is a musical featuring '80s hits like "We've Got the Beat" by The Go-Go's and "Take On Me" by A-Ha.

A good way to explain Valley Girl is Romeo and Juliet, if Romeo was a rocker named Randy (played by Josh Whitehouse) and Juliet was a popular Valley girl named Julie (played by Jessica Rothe). From the trailer above, it's clear you may want to replace your Cher Horowitz-inspired plaid with a few bright ginghams (and maybe some neon heels). Valley Girl will be available on digital May 8, and you can currently watch the original on Amazon Prime.
