Will Taylor Swift Go on Tour in 2022? Here's What We Know

SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE --

Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift has had a busy two years. In August 2019, she released her pop album "Lover," which was supposed to have a supporting concert tour until the pandemic derailed her plans. The tour, Lover Fest, was meant to start in Summer of 2020 and span across parts of Europe, Brazil, and the United States, but as COVID-19 spread around the world, it was cancelled. Swift ended up keeping busy by re-recording her previous albums "Fearless" and "Red," as well as releasing her new original albums "Folklore" and "Evermore." Now that musical tours are picking back up, fans are wondering if Taylor Swift will go on tour in 2022. Here's what we've gathered so far.

A History of Taylor Swift's Lover Fest

Lover Fest was cancelled in April 2020, two months before the tour was supposed to begin. Swift addressed fans on Twitter and said, "I'm so sad I won't be able to see you guys in concert this year, but I know this is the right decision. Please, please stay healthy and safe. I'll see you on stage as soon as I can but right now what's important is committing to this quarantine, for the sake of all of us." Originally, most of the concert dates for Lover Fest were to be postponed, but as the pandemic continued to get worse into 2021, the dates were cancelled. In February 2021, Swift addressed fans on Twitter again, saying, "I miss you terribly and can't wait til we can all safely be at shows together again."

Will Taylor Swift's Lover Fest Be Rescheduled For 2022?

So where does this leave Swift for touring in 2022? Swift produced and released a lot of music since the pandemic started two years ago, including "Folklore" and "Evermore," which were overwhelmingly well-received by both fans and critics. If she tours in 2022, it's likely it will revolve around those two albums, leaving the "Lover" era in the past.

Taylor Swift's 2022 Tour Fan Theories

One Reddit user speculates that Swift might tour from the summer to the late fall, writing, "I'd really love to see her tour from around June to November/December as I'm pretty sure the pandemic will be much more subdued then."

Another user thinks Swift might not do a tour for "Lover," "Folklore," or "Evermore" and instead will focus on her entire library of music. "I think she's at that point in her career where she can drop doing tours for each era and instead do big shows showcasing songs from multiple albums," the fan wrote.

What Has Taylor Swift Said About Touring in 2022?

Swift has been particularly quiet about going on tour this year and, in fact, has not mentioned touring at all since Lover Fest was cancelled. Perhaps Swift hasn't mentioned going on tour due to being occupied by other projects. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the singer took on a role in "American Hustle" and "Joy" director David O' Russell's latest untitled period piece. According to Collider, it's about "a doctor and a lawyer who form an unlikely partnership." Or maybe she's just hesitant to plan a tour because the pandemic is still ongoing.

Nonetheless, as the world approaches a new normal, fans remain hopeful the singer will return to the stage for a tour in the near future.
