Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk really know how to get the rumour mill buzzing. The happy couple threw a black-tie engagement party at the Los Angeles theatre, which was rumoured to actually be their secret wedding. They invited more than 400 people for the party, and stylish stars such as Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson, and Julia Roberts made an appearance.
Whether this was her engagement party dress or her wedding dress, one thing's for sure: Gwyneth looked like Hollywood royalty in her gorgeous oxblood gown. The actress's one-shouldered Giambattista Valli design featured a sexy cutout and a thigh-high slit.
In an exclusive with People, Paltrow's stylist Elizabeth Saltzman revealed, "The idea was that it was an engagement party. It was Old Hollywood style. It was black tie. She was really feeling burgundy. We've done a lot of other colours in our life: We've done white together, we've done pink together, we've done grey together. And I think [choosing this colour] was just to make Gwyneth's heart grow a little bigger and make her even happier and really just give her what she wanted."
Gwyneth accessorised with her rare engagement ring, which glistened as she walked, and a pair of diamond earrings that had a special meaning. "Her earrings were earrings that her father gave her — that's how she brought him in the room," Saltzman said. Regarding Gwyneth's gorgeous Jennifer Behr hair clips, her stylist revealed, "We used very simple hair clips just to keep it really fresh just so it was about nothing except just for her."
