Kim Kardashian Renames Her Kimono Shapewear Line

Kim Kardashian Will Be Changing the Controversial Name of Her Shapewear Line After All

Kim Kardashian's shapewear line will undergo a major change just a week after its launch. On July 1, the reality star and entrepreneur announced that she would be renaming the range after receiving criticism that she was appropriating Japanese culture with the original name, Kimono. In a post shared to Instagram, Kim said she was appreciative of the "varied perspectives" she had received. "I am always listening, learning and growing," Kim said.

Following the initial backlash, Kim said in a statement to The New York Times that the name was a "nod to the beauty and detail" that goes into the traditional garment. She added, "I understand and have deep respect for the significance of the kimono in Japanese culture. My solutionwear brand is built with inclusivity and diversity at its core and I'm incredibly proud of what's to come." At that time, Kim said she had no plans to change the name, but she has since changed her stance.

"I am always listening, learning and growing."

In her latest update, Kim explained, "When I announced the name of my shapewear line, I did so with the best intentions in mind. My brands and products are built with inclusivity and diversity at their core and after careful thought and consideration, I will be launching my Solutionwear brand under a new name." Though she didn't say what the new name will be, Kim said she would be sharing those details soon.
