If you didn't know, it's officially a thongkini summer once again — and supermodel Heidi Klum is making sure of it. Ever since the sultry swimsuit trend took off in 2022, many celebrities have proudly embraced thongkinis, including Kylie Jenner, Chloe Bailey, and Vanessa Hudgens. Most recently, 50-year-old Klum appeared in one of the boldest takes on the trend to date. On Saturday, 27 May, she casually posed for Instagram nearly nude, leaving little to the imagination in front of a glass balcony as she sat oceanside during a holiday with husband Tom Kaulitz. "Cap d'Antibes 🇫🇷❤️🌞🌹," she captioned her post, wearing nothing but a black thongkini bottom that highlighted her toned back and famous legs, while holding a white rose.
Klum is no stranger to rocking body-baring silhouettes. As one of the original swimsuit connoisseurs, she famously graced the cover of Sports Illustrated's 1998 Swim Issue, having posed in a variety of revealing pieces, including the traditional bikini and thongkini. She also made history as the first German model to become a Victoria's Secret Angel (a role that's now retired), appearing in many of the brand's swim campaigns, most notably the 2001 catalogue where she wore a black, croc-print swimsuit with back cutouts.
Apart from her affinity for thongkinis and lingerie, the former "Project Runway" host has produced other risk-taking fashion moments. Her latest appearance coincides with her attendance at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, where she donned a yellow Zuhair Murad cutout dress that paraded her sides, chest, and stomach. Klum also wore a sparkling micro minidress with thigh-high slits by Kevin Germanier for the 2023 Golden Globe Awards, and previously enjoyed an edgy matching outfit moment with daughter Leni Klum at Milan Fashion Week in 2022.
