For their first Christmas as a married couple, William looked to Kate's favourite jewellery designer, Kiki McDonough, and splashed out on a pair of oval green amethyst earrings surrounded by diamonds and set in 18-karat yellow gold. Kate first wore them to church on Christmas Day that year, and they seem to have festive significance for her, as she also wore them to church on Christmas Day in 2013 and 2015.
