To celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee at her annual Trooping the Colour parade on 2 June, 2022, which marked the 70th anniversary of her accession, Kate Middleton, Prince William, and their children coordinated in shades of blue. This was not only to match the queen's Angela Kelly ensemble on the day of but also because the hue was famously thought to be her majesty's favourite colour. Middleton repeated a white Alexander McQueen double-breasted coat dress but played to the theme with her navy-blue Philip Treacy hat and sapphire jewellery, while Meghan Markle was spotted in a navy dress and matching wide-brim hat from Stephen Jones Millinery. Prince Louis's sailor outfit, also featuring stripes of blue, was an homage to his father's own look worn in 1985.
