Keto Low-Sugar Fruit

Yes, You Can Eat Fruit on Keto, and These 8 Are the Best Types

Touted as nature's candy, fruit is something we grew up knowing was good for us. While it's loaded with vitamins, minerals, and fibre, it does contain sugar, making it a food some believe should be avoided when on diets like keto, on which you're also supposed to limit your carbs to 20 to 50 grams.

The good news is that you don't have to take fruit completely out of rotation when you're trying keto because there are some types that are low in carbs and high in fibre that fit the diet's restrictions. Knowing how to calculate your net carbs is super handy in making sure you don't get yourself out of ketosis, but without having to do the maths, here are eight types of fruit you can (thankfully!) have on keto.

1. Blackberries

There are about seven grams of carbs and four grams of fibre in half a cup of blackberries, meaning eating them in moderation or adding them to smoothies or salads is a great option.

2. Avocados

Avocados are one of the best fruits you can have on keto. They're a healthy fat and loaded with fibre, and they can be added to a plethora of recipes that are perfect for keto.

3. Grapefruits

Said to be a great weight-loss food, grapefruits add the perfect taste of tangy to your keto diet.

4. Lemons

Lemons are great for more than just your morning warm-water concoction, like for grilled shrimp and lemon. Could there be a more perfect combo? Just swap out the canola or rice bran oil with avocado oil and this recipe makes the best keto meal.
