Popsugar Health & Fitness Belly Fat How to Build Rock-Solid Abs A Fitness Trainer Recommends These 9 Things For Rock-Solid Abs 26 July 2018 by Jenny Sugar View On One Page Photo 8 of 8 ADVERTISEMENT () Start Slideshow 💥HOW TO BUILD ROCK SOLID ABS💥 - 🛷The benefits of having strong abs go from being better able to do daily life activities, to lifting a lot of weight in the gym. - 🏋️♀️Strong abs are also going to improve your posture, help prevent injuries, and can improve sports performance not to mention building that 6 Pack. - 👍🏻Here are some of my favorite ways to build rock solid abs: - 🐹 Front Squats (or front loaded anything )- Front loading will light up your abs like nobody’s business. If you’ve never tried front loading, TRY IT! - 🐛Plank - The plank is probably the gold standard for core strength and is the perfect place to start if you are a beginner. So many ways to progress a simple plank hold. Plank on your elbows, or on your hands. So many variations you can do as you get stronger. - 🙉Deadlifts - Not only are deadlifts a badass exercise but they also help build badass abs too. Abs are engaged and stabilizing throughout the entire lift. - Single leg RDL - Your abs are getting recruited for stability and balance. - 🧢Rollouts - Ab rollouts are working overtime to keep you from overarching as you roll out. Rolling on a stability ball is a great place to start with these. - 🦆Pallof Press - One of my favorite ab exercises. You can use a cable stack or even a band. This is an anti rotation exercise - your body wants to rotate in towards the cable or band, but your core has to work overtime to stabilize you so that does not happen. - 🐶Carries - Pick up a heavy DB or 2 and start walking. Your core has to brace and stabilize you in order to keep you upright and level. Grip strength gets some serious work here too. - 🐛Dragon Flys-some people call them Dragon Flags. Whatever you call them, they are hard as well and my MOST favorite core strength exercise to do. Keeping your hips extended is super challenging. - 🥗And the most important “exercises” of all is a modest calorie deficit. Calories always count, and if you want the abs to show, make sure you are in a calorie deficit, you are eating adequate protein, and you just keep working. - ➡️What is your all time favorite ab exercise?
