One of the best apartments I've ever lived in had an outdoor porch in front of every apartment. The reason it was such a great place to live? All the neighbours would regularly hang out on their porches, which meant that we actually got to know each other! So don't be shy. When you move in, feel free to introduce yourself to your neighbours (and maybe even invite them over for a drink).
