Popsugar News Us News Celeb Reactions to Colin Kaepernick's Nike Campaign Athletes Are Showing Support For Colin Kaepernick's New Nike Campaign 4 September 2018 by Danielle Jackson Image Source: Slaven Vlasic/Getty Images for Sports Illustrated It's been just over a day since Nike announced its decision to make Colin Kaepernick the face of its "Just Do It" campaign, and though there's been a little backlash, the 30-year-old ex-quarterback is already receiving an outpouring of support from countless fans and celebrities, including some of his fellow athletes. To celebrate the company's 30th anniversary, Nike released an ad on Monday that features the former NFL player's face alongside the message, "Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything. Just do it." The ad is an obvious reference to Kaepernick sacrificing the last few years of his career in the NFL to peacefully protest police brutality by kneeling during the national anthem before games. Serena Williams, who also happens to be at the centre of a similar Nike campaign, tweeted her support for Kaepernick shortly after the ad was released. "Especially proud to be a part of the Nike family today. #justdoit," she wrote next to an old photo of herself playing tennis. Other athletes like LeBron James, Chris Paul, and Russell Okung were quick to show their support as well. See what other celebs had to say below.
