Arlo the Alligator Boy Trailer
Get ready to sing your hearts out! A new animated musical about a half-human, half-alligator boy who leaves his quaint swamp to search for his long lost father in New York City is coming to Netflix in April. In Arlo the Alligator Boy, Arlo (American Idol's Michael J. Woodard) journeys to the city and "meets a group of misfits who quickly become his new family" along the way. Some of his friends — all voiced by an amazing cast — include Furlecia (Jonathan Van Ness), Teeny Tiny Tony (Tony Hale), Stucky (Jennifer Coolidge), Alia (Haley Tju), and Bertie (Mary Lambert).
According to the film's director and executive producer, Ryan Crego, Arlo has been a concept for over a decade. "I set out to create the most joyful, positive character that I could dream up. I was curious to see what would happen when a character so positive and pure of heart went out into a world that was gritty, calloused and real. Would he bend, would he break, or would he be able to change the world around him?" Ryan said in an email letter to the press. "Through his songs we also get our strongest themes. Songs about wanting to be more, to fulfil your destiny, to accept yourself, to understand pain and loss . . . and eventually to realise that we are in this thing together and no one does it alone. At its core, Arlo the Alligator Boy is a story about finding beauty in our differences and strength in our friendships."
While we all wait patiently for the film and full soundtrack drop on April 16, watch the Arlo the Alligator Boy trailer above, then see first photos and listen to a song from the soundtrack, "Follow Me Home," below.
