Miley Cyrus Rescues Another Pit Bull 2 Months After Her Dog Mary Jane Passed Away

Miley Cyrus rescued anothed Pit Bull, named Angel, two months after her dog Mary Jane passed away. In an emotional Instagram post, Miley detailed her decision to adopt as well as how she's been grieving the death of her beloved pet. After writing out the thoughtful lyrics to "I Thought I Lost You," a song she sang with John Travolta for the Bolt soundtrack in 2008, she shared a few snaps of her three pups.

"Almost two months ago my best friend a rescued pit mix Mary Jane left this world," she captioned her heartfelt post. "I knew she wasn't gone for good. She had out lived the body she was in but she never said goodbye ..... with her eyes she whispered 'See you soon Bestie'. Mary Jane defined loyalty and would never break a promise."

"I feel her here with me blessing this new member to my family [whose] name is 'Angel' because she was delivered to me by one... My Mary. It breaks my heart to know Angel was sleeping on concrete in a shelter for 3 months before finally making it home," Miley continued, sharing how the negative stereotypes Pit Bulls are associated with are upsetting to her. "The stigma and stereotype that surrounds pit bulls tears me in two. This breed is incomparably loving. Just like humans nurture often overrides nature."

Although Miley is still mourning the passing of her fur BFF, she's welcoming Angel to her household with open arms. "I am head over heels in love," she wrote. "Not sure I will ever sleep again because I can't take my eyes off of her! Her halo shines for all to see and I can't wait to show her off! It's pretty cool having an Angel on a leash! She is illuminated by the aura of the late and great Mary Jane. Long live love. It never dies."

On Jan. 7, the 28-year-old singer shared a heartfelt tribute to Mary Jane on Instagram, noting that she penned the song "Mary Jane 5EVR" for her pooch. "A lot has changed over time. Mostly me," she shared. "Music is my medicine. This song revolves around loss & heartache. Which I am currently experiencing after Mary Jane's passing. MJ was a true queen. She wore her grace, dignity & kindness like a crown. She will never be forgotten and will forever be missed. To know her is to love her. It has been my honour being her mom and best friend."
