Unless it's the Beyoncé album we're talking about, I've never been much of a lemonade girl. True story: I detest the overly sweet citrusy drink so much that as a child, I brought cups of water out onto my block to sell for 50 cents instead of the standard lemonade. (Pour one out for my failed entrepreneurial career.) Yeah, it's not really my thing, but I'm viewing it in a much more positive light after trying out Maybelline's fabulous new Lemonade Craze Eye Shadow Palette ($11).
Since the shadows' inspiration immediately conjures up images of hot days and cocktail umbrellas, of course all of the bright shades have me dreaming of Summer. But the hues that live inside this mini palette might surprise you. Even though yellow eye makeup is absolutely everywhere right now, and the bundle's namesake is a daffodil-hued drink, there's only one mustard-coloured option in this 12-pan offering.
But we're not complaining. The rest of the shades range in the rose gold family — and ICYMI, you can never have enough rose gold makeup in your life. Featuring eight matte and four shimmer shades, this pretty, pint-sized palette contains everything you need to create a bubblegum-pink eye shadow look that will heat up even the most sweltering of Summer days.
I got to swatch Lemonade Craze before it's released on April 13 (you can preorder it on Amazon right now if you so desire). Below, you'll see the buzziest hues of this palette of the moment.

The powders are light and almost fluffy in texture. My domed brush picked everything up well, but I suspect you could also apply this malleable formula with your fingers if you're in a rush. Don't be afraid to apply a few layers of your desired colour — it took two or three swipes of the matte shades to start to show on my (almost concerningly pale) arm.
One more thing: Maybelline advertises this palette as being lemonade scented. Call me a naysayer, but as a perfume hoarder, I just can't get on board with the scented makeup trend. That's what fragrances are for! (Also, I'm not expecting anyone to sniff my eyelids anytime in the near future.) My opinions aside, the scent didn't end up being a super big deal. It's really, really light — I could only get a whiff if I put my nose right on top of the pan (sorry for getting all up in your business, Lemonade Craze).
