"Saltburn" star Allison Oliver's wet-look bob immediately caught our eye at the 2024 BAFTAs. And her edgy take on the usual sleek, smooth, and preppy bob haircut is all over the red carpet. It has already been styled on Jennifer Lopez for Paris Fashion Week and Florence Pugh for The Fashion Awards in 2022.

Oliver's haircut is the work of BAFTAs hairstylist and ghd UK Ambassador, Patrick Wilson, who gave us the lowdown on the trending look. The wet-look bob is a dual-texture haircut that Wilson tells POPSUGAR UK adds an element of "toughness to the style." "The wet look bob has a bold film and we wanted Alison's style to reflect this," Wilson says. "The wet look bob essentially involves a lot more gel than usual! It's a twist on the more chic and understated bobs we're seeing at the moment, whilst still remaining elevated."

In addition to being a longer, shoulder-length bob, Alison's hairstyle has a photo finish; her ends are subtly flicked outwards and her deep side part accentuates her contoured facial structure. "We actually cut Alison's hair on the day of the BAFTAs as we wanted it to feel fresh," Wilson reveals.

How Patrick Wilson Created Allison Oliver's Wet-Look Bob

First, Wilson prepped Oliver's hair with a heat protectant and Pick Me Up Root Lift Spray (£18.95) which protects the hair and adds a good foundation for creating body and hold.

He then parted Alison's hair using a tail comb, creating a deep side part, before directing the hair off the face with a hairdryer. Her hair was then smoothed using the new Chronos Styler (£289). The Chronos is perfect for creating a wet-look bob, as the ultra-gloss plates keep frizz at bay for longer. For the soaked look, Wilson locked the style into place with gel and set with Perfect Ending Hair Spray (£14.95).

For peak versatility, Wilson recommends that you "play around with different products and textures in a more creative way to get more variety with your final look." Gel products and the Chronos styler help ensure "a seamless, sleek finish," he explains.

Essentially, if you have a grown-out bob, or a shoulder length bob that you're finding too awkward to style, go for the drenched look to revitalise your hairstyle.
