Anya Taylor-Joy might be starring in the upcoming comedy horror film "The Menu", but she is channelling Barbie for her latest look. Although we don't mean in a typical pink ensemble, but via her icy-blonde hair. At the New York premiere of her new movie, her hair was swept into an ultra-high updo that has been dubbed the "Barbie ponytail". Wearing the super sleek style, clad in a thick satin black ribbon, the polished look added drama to her strapless minidress.
Inspired by the iconic doll's long blonde hair, often styled in a high updo, the look has been trending of late thanks to the upcoming "Barbie" film, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. The "Barbie ponytail" is characterised by high placement on the top of the head, with a super straight pony, often with a flipped-up end. While hairstylist Gregory Russsell keeps Taylor-Joy's pony poker straight, there's no denying the updo is giving gothic Barbie vibes as she follows the likes of Ariana Granda, Rihanna, and Lizzo with the look.
Taylor-Joy added a deep burgundy lip, feathered eyelashes, and glowing skin for a striking finish to her red carpet outfit. Her dress, by Dior, featured a strapless bodice and structured full skirt, made of intricate black lace, as stylist Ryan Hastings paired it with fishnet opera gloves, and black patent stilettos to complete her gothic ensemble. Tiffany & Co. diamond necklace and floral earrings added a final touch of sparkle.
