Ariana Grande Tears Up Discussing "Hiding" Behind Injectables
Ariana Grande is ready to discuss her previous cosmetic enhancements. The singer and R.E.M. Beauty founder opened up about getting Botox and lip fillers in a new "Beauty Secrets" video published by Vogue on 12 Sept. While sharing her skin care and makeup routine, Grande gets candid about her past use of injectables, which she's kept mum about throughout her career. "Full transparency . . . I've had a ton of lip filler over the years and Botox. I stopped in 2018 'cause I just felt so too much. I just felt like hiding, you know?" she says. Holding back tears, the Grammy winner adds, "For a long time, beauty was about hiding for me, and now I feel like maybe it's not."
"I just think ageing can be such a beautiful thing."
Grande acknowledges there's a chance she would get injectables or undergo procedures in the future, but for now, she's embracing life without them. "For me, I was like, 'Oh, I want see my well-earned cry lines and smile lines. I hope my smile lines get deeper and deeper and I laugh more and more. I just think ageing can be such a beautiful thing. Now, might I get a facelift in 10 years? I might, yeah. But these are just thoughts that I feel like we should be able to discuss. If we're sitting here talking about beauty secrets, f*ck it. Let's lay it all out there."
Earlier in the video, Grande touches on how much her makeup looks and overall relationship with beauty have changed since she first rose to pop stardom. "Being exposed to so many voices at a young age — especially when people have things to say about your appearance — it's really hard to know what's worth hearing or not," she says. "I, over the years, used makeup as a disguise or as something to hide behind." Nowadays, she sees it as a form of self-expression and a way to accentuate her natural beauty. "We're here talking about beauty secrets; isn't the secret that we all just wanna feel our best and be loved?"
