You've probably heard of cryotherapy, but have you ever heard of cryotherapy for your hair? If your answer was no, you're in the same boat I was in a few months ago. When scrolling TikTok late one night, I came across a video where a girl was brushing through her hair with a "cold brush" that she said helped repair damaged hair from heat styling and gave her hair tons of shine. Curious to learn more, I fell into a rabbit hole on TikTok and found out the product she was using had recently gone viral.

The BabylissPro CyroCare ColdBrush ($150) is a hair conditioning tool that uses freezing temperatures to improve the look and feel of hair through active hydration. It works by reaching below-freezing temperatures and transferring moisture from the air into the hair shaft. The product can be used on wet or dry hair, and it's good for all hair types, including extensions.

On wet hair, the product can be used to hydrate the hair before applying heat, which Babyliss says will lead to less breakage. It can also be used on wet hair prior to air drying for a frizz-free finish. As for dry hair, it can be used on dirty hair to break up product buildup, or it can be used after heat styling tools to replenish moisture and give the hair a smooth, shiny finish.

I have extremely frizzy hair, and I'm constantly dealing with issues related to breakage. I recently had my hair coloured, and the process definitely left me with some damage. I've noticed that I have a lot of shorter pieces and grey hairs toward the top of my head that stick straight up and are impossible to keep down. This product immediately piqued my interest because I was curious whether or not it would help with not only my frizz but my damaged hair as well.

The first time I tested out this tool I opted to use it on dry hair directly after I had used heat. I typically style my hair with my Dyson Airwrap, and to finish everything off I always go over my hair with the cold setting on a blow dryer. To test my new hair tool, I skipped the last step in my drying routine and went straight to the cold brush.

After plugging it in and turning it on, the first thing I noticed when testing out this cold brush was that it got, well, really freaking cold. Although I'm used to blowdrying my hair with cold air after styling, this was easily 10 times colder. The brush only has one setting, so once I pressed the power button, I only needed to wait a few seconds until it was cold and ready to use. I also noticed that with just a few swipes, my hair really did take on a much shinier tone, and the frizz at the top of my head had subsided considerably. After I was done using the brush on my entire head, the biggest thing I noticed was how impossibly soft my hair felt. Ever since colouring my hair, my hair has felt drier and a little bit straw-like, but this tool gave my hair new life.

Since my first time trying it, I've also used this product when my hair was wet, and it absolutely helped with the frizz when air-drying my hair. However, I will say that the experience left my teeth practically chattering. I haven't been using the product long enough to see any changes to my damaged hair, but I do see an immediate difference whenever I use it prior to air-drying my hair or after using hot tools. I have, however, tested it twice on greasy hair to break up product and make my hair look less oily, but I can't say I noticed much of a difference. For now, I'll definitely stick to using it on wet hair and after heat styling.

At $150, this tool is definitely on the pricey side. However, for someone like me, who's in a constant battle with frizz, it makes all the difference. It's unlike any other hair tool I've tried, and it does eliminate a substantial amount of hair woes I've been dealing with for years. I'm excited to continue using this tool and to continue reaping the benefits.
