Carrie Underwood Now Has 4 Tattoos — Here's What They Mean

Carrie Underwood's 4 Tattoos and Meanings

Since Carrie Underwood shot to fame after winning season four of "American Idol" in 2005, the singer has released nine studio albums, garnered critical acclaim, and earned many career-defining accolades, including eight Grammys. Still, while you might be well-versed with her many hits over the years, what you might not be as familiar with is her small collection of tattoos, which recently expanded when she added a matching sentimental piece with her mother and sisters.

On July 2, Underwood shared a carousel of snaps on her Instagram that documented her recent family trip to the Las Vegas-based tattooist Darek Riley. "When your 74-year-old mother asks you and your sisters to get matching tattoos with her in Vegas, the only questions are, 'what?' and 'where?'" the country music superstar captioned the gallery, adding, "I never would've thought I'd see the day that Mama Carole would be gettin' some ink!" The women each got a matching heart outline with a small elongated loop at the end to commemorate their time in Las Vegas.

And while this might be the most visible body artwork you'll see on Underwood, that's not the only design she has. Earlier this year in May, she also added a flower tattoo to her arm during a girls' trip, and she has two other tattoos that are well-concealed in obscure locations.

Given their discreet placement, we wouldn't blame you if you, too, thought the "American Idol" alum didn't have any ink to her name before these latest additions. That's why we're breaking down Underwood's sentimental (and small) tattoo collection ahead, which features her lesser-known pieces and what each one means.
